Our writers list their personal album highlights from last year
Luke Woodford:

James Bay - Chaos And The Calm: James Bay’s new album ‘ Chaos And The Calm’ was one to take me by surprise. With not much information about the artist, the sudden image Bay had claimed made it impossible not to take a deeper look into the album, an album that is undoubtedly my favourite album of 2015
Coldplay - A Head Full Of Dreams: Over the years Coldplay have been in and out of my iTunes playlists, leaving me a little judgemental when listening to their music. However, after releasing their new album ‘A Head Full Of Dreams’ I can safely say that they will hold a space in my iTunes playlist for a very long time.
Jess Glynne – I Cry When I Laugh: I first heard of Jess Glynne’s album ‘I Cry When I Laugh’ when her track from the album ‘Hold My Hand’ flew to the top of the charts, this had me curious on what other potential hits she might have and with no surprise the whole 14-track album was a masterpiece.
Adele – 25:
After released her album ‘21’ back in 2011, we haven’t heard much about Adele doing anything else and we can now see why. The killer tunes that Adele has put on her new album ‘25’ has not only titled her album as the fastest selling album in history, but every time the radio stations play any song from this album I cant help myself, I turn up the volume and sing along.
Justin Bieber – Purpose:
Over the years I have never really been a fan of Justin Bieber, his latest album ‘Purpose’ has some of the best songs I’ve heard in 2015, resulting in storming the 2015/16 chart.
Alex Lambden:

Ministry of Sound - Go Hard Or Go Home: Due to the range of house songs that are included from many different artists, the album doesn’t get repetitive as well as featuring some of the greatest and most anticipated songs from 2015
Drake - If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late: The different genre of music that drake decided to experiment with. This works out to be a success for Drake as he manages to create an albums that closer fits with the direction that modern pop music is taking.
Calvin Harris - Motion:
As Calvin Harris is one of my favourite artists for producing house music that always stays in fashion long after it first gets released and this, in my opinion, is another example of just that. He is always consistent with producing music that gets high up in the charts, showing great skill and knowledge of what people want and expect out of his music.
Jess Glynne - I Cry When I Laugh: Due to this being a debut album from a relatively new artist with a unique, memerable voice, I think Jess deserves a place in my top 5 albums of 2015.
Avicii - Stories:
Avicii is one of the greatest electronic artists out there, who never fails to produce songs that receive incredible feedback and appear in the singles charts for months at a time before being displaced.
Calum King:

Nothing But Thieves - Nothing But Thieves: A brilliant debut album from this alternative rock band. Mixing poppy rhythms with a guitar driven sound, along with the brilliant vocal performance, makes this my album of the year.
Muse - Drones:
The seventh studio album from Muse features a return to their rockier origins following several more experimental albums. Songs like Mercy and Dead Inside go down in my book as Muse classics.
Foals - What Went Down:
Their fourth studio effort, this album has all the guitar driven sounds you’d expect from this band. What Went Down is classic Foals.
Blur - The Magic Whip:
Blur’s first album in 12 years is a great return to form with an updated, but familiar sound. Although a long way from their Brit-Pop origins The Magic Whip is absolutely a Blur album.
Slaves - Are You Satisfied:
A loud and agreessive debut album that sounds much bigger than the size of the band would suggest.
Tom White:

Slaves - Are You Satisfied:
I had no idea who Slaves were until Are You Satisfied was released, now I would consider them one of my favourite bands. Every song on Are You Satisfied works with their sound. It’s all hits and no misses in this album, making it my number 1 for 2015.
Foals - What Went Down:
Foals never fail to produce quality music and What Went Down is no exception. The lead single Mountain At My Gates is possibly one of the greasest songs Foals have ever produced. It was a very hard decision between this and Slaves for the number 1 spot.
Don Broco - Automatic:
Don Broco have created another excellent album with Automatic. The only issue I had with this album is the inconsistency they had i writing the songs which, in my opinion, fits their sound better.
Coldplay - A Head Full Of Dreams: A Head Full Of Dreams is my personal feel good album of 2015. It’s a happy return back to the more positive sounding music that Coldplay made in Viva La Vida and Mylo Xyloto, which I thought was some of the best work they did.
Adele - 25:
I personally thought Adele’s career had been dead for quite some time, the last I’d heard from her was the dissapointing, written for film Skyfall. However 25 has proven me wrong, as well as showing the rest of the world that she can still produce great music.
